Ixchel, Women's Creativity

Friday's card was drawn from The Goddess Oracle deck.

Ixchel is a Maya Goddess of the Yucatan peninsula on Cozumel, her sacred island. She is a goddess of the waters, the earth, the moon, and matron of weavers and artisans. She was known as Lady Rainbow, Mother Earth, Womb, and The Cave of Life. She helps assure fertility by holding the sacred womb jar upside down so that the waters of creation can be ever flowing.

She is here to remind us that women's creativity is expressed not only by birthing children but in everything we do. What do you do to show your creativity? Is it through your work, your family, your hobbies? However you do it find time for your creativity. Expressing yourself will help balance your life and relief stress.

Lady of Beasts, she's just not finished with us.

Thursdays' card:
I'll have to admit when this card came up again, I thought we can't have the same card two days in a row. So I shuffled draw a new card and there she was again! Three more times and each time Lady of Beasts. She insists that her voice be heard.


Over the centuries this Goddess Archetype has spread to many cultures, all of which share a similar identification with wild places and the animals that live therein. A form of the great mother goddess who births and cares for humanity. She is also seen reflected in Celtic faery myths. Where the boundaries between women and animals continually blur and melt into each other. In so many legends and folk-tales, a beautiful faerie woman turns into an animal and then disappears into the Netherworld. 


W.B Yeats reworked this archetypal theme in his famous poem, "The Song of Wandering Aengus."

I went out to the hazelwood, 
Because a fire was in my head, 

Cut and peeled a hazel wand,

And hooked a berry to a thread; 

And when white moths were on the wing, 

And moth-like stars were flickering out, 

I dropped the berry in a stream 

And caught a little silver trout. 

When I had laid it on the floor 

And gone to blow the fire aflame. 

Something rustled on the floor. 

And someone called me by my name:

It had become a glimmering girl 

With apple blossoms in her hair 

Who called me by my name and ran 

And vanished in the brightening air.

She is here again asking us to reflect on our relationships with both animals and the other humans we share this planet with. How do you nurture others? Is there something more you can do? Or are you over whelmed by helping others? Don't forget to take care of yourself and ask for help when you need it.  Remember every living thing on this planet is part of a symbiotic relationship.

Wednesday's card was drawn using The Goddess Oracle.

Lady of the Beasts (or Cosmic Creatrix) is a Goddess from ancient Sumer, Crete, and the Indus Valley. She is the great mother and is shown in this card pregnant and surrounded by pregnant animals. She is hear to remind us that we are all connected and dependent on each other. This includes all the animals and the rest of the planet. If any species were to stop giving birth we would all be affected. Today think of some way you can help the environment or consider volunteering at an animal shelter. Even small actions go a long way.

Pele, Release your passion.

Tuesday's card was drawn using The Goddess Oracle.

Pele is the Polynesian volcano Goddess. She is destructive and angry, but also a symbol of renewal and rebirth. The fiery power of Pele can not be held back, when it is time for the volcano to erupt it will erupt. She reminds us not to hold things in. You must release your anger, passion, and creativity or they will destroy you.

If you are angry with someone talk to them, clear the air. You may find it helps to grow your relationship. If not then it's time to let that person go.

Have you been feeling restless lately? Remember what it is that makes you passionate and do that today. Let your creativity flow just like Pele's lava creates new land.

Cerridwen, Death and Rebirth

This weekend's card was drawn using The Goddess Oracle.

Cerridwen is the Welsh Triple Goddess- Maiden, Mother, Crone. She represents the phases of the moon and the phases of a woman's life. She reminds us that death is not an ending, it is just one stage in the cycle of life. Something must end before something new can begin. Take some time this weekend to reflect on your life. Are there things you no longer need? Is it time to move onto something new? If so take the necessary steps to get the process moving. Do not let your cycles stand still; stir your own cauldron.

Friday 9/3's card: The Erinyes

Today's reading was done using The Goddess Oracle.

In Greek mythology the Erinýes (Ἐρινύες, pl. of Ἐρινύς, Erinýs; literally "the angry ones") or Eumenídes (Εὐμενίδες, pl. of Εὐμενίς; literally "the gracious ones" but also translated as "Kind-hearted Ones" or "Kindly Ones") or Furies or Dirae in Roman mythology were female chthonic deities of vengeance or supernatural personifications of the anger of the dead. 


The Erinyes are appearing today because there is a crisis in your life or in the life of someone you know. Crisis can take many forms- mental, physical or even economical. You can not fight this crisis yourself. You need to ask for help or find help for your loved one. This card is a definite call for action. 


The Erinyes correspond to the Tower card in a traditional Tarot deck. You are in the middle of a crisis but remember there is always a beam of light to guide your way. When the destruction clears the Star will be waiting for you with her warm light and calming waters.

Today's reading was done using The Goddess Oracle.

Yemaya is a Santeria African-Caribbean Goddess of the Sea. Yemaya reminds us that we are part of something bigger then ourselves and when we remember this our problems seem smaller. Have you ever floated in the ocean or other pool of water? Do you remember that feeling of letting yourself go, of surrendering to the water, of letting the world fade away? If things in your life are starting to overwhelm you today imagine you are floating in the water and let your problems fade into the vastness of the ocean.
